A-H I-P Q-Z
A babydoll is a short, sleeveless, loose fitting nightgown or negligee intended as nightwear for women. It usually consists of formed cups with an attached loose fitting skirt falling in length between the hips and the belly button. The garment is often trimmed with lace, ruffles, appliques, Marabou fur, bows and ribbons, optionally with spaghetti straps. Sometimes it is made of sheer or translucent fabric like nylon or chiffon or silk. The garment's hemline is usually about six inches above the knee like a minidress and may have a scoop-neck.

It is now a highly eroticized item of adult apparel, often classified as a form of lingerie. When worn by an adult woman there is great contrast to when worn by an infant; the legs are fully displayed and some styles emphasize or deliberately expose the breasts as well. The gown is often sold as a set with matching panties as a typical babydoll is short enough that underwear is visible if worn. Styles of the same general length but not intended to emphasize sex appeal are sometimes called shortie nightgowns.

Babydolls are now available in a sufficiently wide variety of styles that many lingerie retailers consider babydolls a distinct department. Modern babydolls often vary considerably from the styles of the 1960s and 1970s. Babydoll negligees from the 1950s to the early 1980s are now collectible vintage items. Some babydolls open up in front and resemble more of a robe or peignoir.

In clothing, a bodysuit, or body, is a leotard-like garment that may or may not have snaps at the crotch. It is usually skintight or formfitting and can have sleeves of any length or be made like a tank top. There are bodysuits for both females and males, but the female forms are more common.

A bodysuit may be worn as a top for the smooth line it gives or because it cannot become untucked from one's trousers or skirt. Bodysuits can also be undergarments that provide shaping support.

Donna Karan helped make the bodysuit a defining item of eighties fashion.

Bridal Lingerie is designed for that special occasion in your life when you don't just look for comfort, but for also for luxury and romance.

A bustier (alternately bustierre) is an article of clothing for women, which is form-fitting and is traditionally worn as lingerie. It looks somewhat like a Basque, but a bustier is shorter. It reaches down only to the ribs or the waist and has a different function: its primary purpose is to push up the bust by tightening against the upper midriff and forcing the breasts to move up, while gently shaping the waist. These days, it is often made with mesh panels rather than boning. The bustier is a multi-purpose garment and doubles up as a push-up bra for inner wear and as a camisole for outer wear. The bustier can also be worn as a half-slip under diaphanous upper garments if a bold display of the midriff is not desired.

In modern days, women wear a bustier as an undergarment/push up bra in the occasion that their dress or outer-wear has a low-back.

Cami

Camisole or cami is a loose-fitting sleeveless woman undergarment, covering the upper part of the body. Cami is shorter than a chemise, normally extending to the waist but sometimes being cropped to expose the midriff. Camisoles are made of light fabrics, such as cotton, satin, silk, or stretch fabrics such as lycra, nylon, or spandex. A camisole typically has thin "spaghetti straps" and can be worn over a brassiere or without one.

Gartered Lingerie
Garters are articles of clothing: narrow bands of fabric fastened about the leg, used to keep stockings up. Normally just a few inches in width, they are usually made of leather or heavy cloth, and adorned with small bells and/or ribbons. In the 18th to 20th centuries, they were tied just below the knee, where the leg was slenderest, to keep the stocking from slipping. The advent of elastic has made them unnecessary from this functional standpoint, although they are still often worn for fashion.

In present days many women find gartered lingerie more comfortable than girdles or pantyhose. There is also a certain element of sex appeal, too, because many men like their wives or girlfriends to wear garter lingerie, belts and stockings rather than pantyhose as garter belts and stockings are commonly used as sexual fetish clothing in popular culture. There are also panties and bustier with attached garters. Gartered lingerie today are available in a variety of colors and materials; red or black satin garter belts are particularly popular. Six-garter and four-garter versions are available; women find the six-garter styles more practical. Many garter belts today are made of a mixture of nylon and spandex.
