Huang Dismisses OpenAI Rift, Confirms Major Investment Still On

Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang has publicly pushed back against rumors of a strained relationship with artificial intelligence pioneer OpenAI. Speaking to reporters in Taipei, Huang labeled suggestions he was displeased with the ChatGPT developer as "nonsense." The denial comes amid industry speculation about the status of a massive, previously announced investment.

Last September, Nvidia revealed plans to commit up to $100 billion to OpenAI, a move seen as a powerful alliance at the heart of the AI boom. Recent whispers had cast doubt on whether the deal would proceed as planned. Huang directly addressed those concerns, though he tempered the scale of the financial commitment. When asked if the investment would indeed surpass the $100 billion mark, he stated plainly, "No, nothing like that."

He was quick, however, to reaffirm Nvidia's strong backing. "We are going to make a huge investment in OpenAI," Huang said. "I believe in OpenAI, the work that they do is incredible." His comments underscore the continued strategic importance of the partnership for both companies. For Nvidia, which has seen its valuation soar on demand for its AI chips, OpenAI remains a flagship partner and a critical driver of the computational needs its hardware serves. The clarification from Huang aims to settle market nerves and project a united front as the AI sector navigates a period of intense competition and scrutiny in 2026.
